NEWS ON FORECLOSURES AND MORTGAGE APPLICATIONS IN FLORIDA AND NATION

To All:

Both bits of news on foreclosures and mortgage applications are from Thursday March 10, 2011 Tampa Tribune articles.

Regarding Florida foreclosures, the article says activity hit a 46 month low and was down 65% over the same period last year and down 71% from the peak of foreclosures in April 2009. That's good news any way you look at it! The bad news for us Floridians is that even with the drop Florida is still the nation's second highest for the month of February 2011.

The second bit of news from the same day in the Tampa tribune is that the number of people filing for a mortgage jumped to the biggest gain since June of 2010 after four months of decline. The article said there is room for caution as most of rise in activity is likely from investors, not first time buyers. I don't know how you fee, I don't care who buys the inventory as long as it gets bought up which will bring down our onhand inventory which will eventually lead to a sellers market again which will stop the downward trend of home prices.
